This is the account of the spiritual legacy of CSULB as told through Don, Justin Hackitt, Ryan Klement, Seyi Olagunju, and Tammy Dao. We have the short video version and the long version (1 hour) with the written personal accounts.

For many years, the Lord has raised people of prayer for laborers to be sent into the harvest field. From the place of prayer, the Lord bridged relationships, gave us conviction in the preaching, released healings, and He taught us how to love one another. We have seen Him bring salvations to many when mission is joined with prayer in the spirit of unity. CSULB is comprised of students and staff from different cultures all around the world. Through it, He desires to use us to bring His glory into the nations with hearts ablaze.

It started out with those that believed for God’s promises for CSULB followed by years of evangelistic efforts. In 1986, a man named Steve claimed a promise from Psalm 2:8 for CSULB, “Ask of me, and I shall surely give the nations as thine inheritance, the very ends of the earth as thy possession.” From the 90’s until 2011, the Lord brought many years of unified prayers with several campus ministries involved. There were years of unity gatherings and outreaches in the late 1990’s and after, and there were many good fruits when the gatherings led to friendships between ministers since 2005. We were from different backgrounds yet we promoted and joined each other’s efforts. During these times, we saw love manifest through salvations, the start of new ministries, and people being sent to unreached people groups. We sought for friendships not for the benefit of our own ministry but for the sake of God’s love.

There were some theological differences, but we always had several things in common. Through prayer and love for one another, we were able to work through any differences. We came believing that God answers prayers, Christ is the answer, the Holy Spirit’s work is what we desire to see, we need the Word of God, and the Gospel needs to be proclaimed. We are One body in Christ – I Corinthians 12:4-6.

There are several words of encouragement we would like to pass down to those called to CSULB. First, seek God wholeheartedly and enjoy Him extravagantly in this journey. Second, when we work, we work but when we pray, God works (John 14:1213). Finally, be a part of the bigger picture of what God is doing (Eph. 4:1-3). Seek for the purpose of God together as one in love, and Jesus shall receive the nations as His inheritance!
